Cargill PLC – Construction of 3-Storey MCC Building

Client:   Cargill PLC – Construction of 3-Storey MCC Building

Value:   £1.3m

Completed 2018

Outcome: A complex build completed on schedule and accident-free, meeting all client safety and quality requirements within a live industrial site.

JFW Construction Ltd were appointed as Principal Contractor for the construction of a three-storey steel-framed MCC building, founded on PCC piles with heavily reinforced concrete pile caps, ground beams, and an RC ground slab. The structure incorporated composite steel and concrete suspended upper floors and roof.

The project took place within Cargill’s live operational grain refinery — an environment that demanded exceptional logistical control due to continuous HGV movements and tight operational constraints. Despite these challenges, the works were delivered safely, on programme, and in full compliance with Cargill’s stringent SHE standards.

“I am a Build Project Manager for Cargill Plc in the UK. I have had direct involvement on numerous projects with JFW Construction for some 14 years. Over this time, I have engaged with them on very small jobs (1 man for a few hours) right through to considerable-sized contracts exceeding £1M.

They are currently supporting a business-critical brownfield expansion of one of our production sites, with the value of JFW’s combined contracts around £1.7M. Some of the civil and construction works they have undertaken on our sites have been complex, and they have consistently proven to have the experience and competence to execute them well.

We have maintained a long-term relationship with them as a valued supply partner, as we have found them to be reliable, professional, accessible, flexible to our programmes, and safe. I have no hesitation in recommending them to others for civil and construction works.”
