Bowmere Hospital, Chester - Entrance Improvements
Client: NHS Cheshire and Wirral Partnership
Value: £170k
Completed 2022
Outcome: The project was completed on time and within budget, achieving a seamless transformation of the hospital’s entrance. The enhanced layout and finishes created a more welcoming and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors, while maintaining full operational continuity throughout the works.
JFW Construction was appointed as Principal Contractor following a competitive tender to manage and deliver both the original scope and additional negotiated works. Careful planning and phased management were essential to minimise disruption to the hospital’s daily operations, including temporary main entrance closures at key stages.
The works involved a full refurbishment of the hospital’s entrance and reception area, including alterations to the reception counter, installation of bespoke glazed screens, and the introduction of manufactured mobile pods for food trolleys. Externally, the team carried out tiling, signage installation, repairs, new K-render to external panels with Alumasc copings, and enhancements to hard landscaping and entrance furniture. Internal refurbishments also included upgrades to ground floor ward corridors, new suspended ceilings, lighting, flooring, and full redecoration.
