JFW Construction was appointed to deliver a series of classroom extensions and internal refurbishments at Mersey Park Primary School. The project involved the construction of two single-storey pitched roof classroom extensions and one single-storey flat roof extension to Room 13, designed to provide additional teaching space and improve the overall learning environment.

The extensions were constructed using structural insulated panels (SIPs) with decorative Rockpanel exterior cladding and insulated metsec walling internally. A self-coloured insulated render finish was applied to the flat roof extension and the existing Girls’ WC brick elevation, ensuring a cohesive and modern aesthetic. Roofing works included slate-effect insulated pitched roofs and a single-ply insulated flat roof, complemented by aluminium doors, windows, and screens.

Internally, works included the refurbishment of existing classrooms and remodelling of the SLT/PPA office, alongside drainage alterations and reinstatement of disturbed tarmac surfacing. The project was delivered largely during term time, requiring careful planning and strict segregation of construction activities to ensure the continued safety of pupils, staff, and parents.

The Outcome

The project was completed within the tight summer deadline and to a high standard of workmanship. The new extensions provide bright, well-insulated, and energy-efficient teaching spaces that blend seamlessly with the existing school buildings. Staff and pupils were delighted with the results, and the works were praised for being delivered safely and efficiently with minimal disruption to the school’s day-to-day activities.
