TESTIMONIALS

A sample of what our clients have said after working with JFW.

“JFW have performed excellently on the current project at Huntington WTW. The project has been managed by the foreman, Wayne Mitchell, competently and professionally, particularly the supervision of sub contractors and the performance with regard to Health and Safety.

Communication between client and contractor has been excellent which is very important as the building being refurbished is still occupied during the refurbishment therefore planning was essential in order to cause minimal disruption to the client and to enable the client to continue the safe running of the treatment works during the refurbishment with little or no disruption to the core business. This was achieved by the proactive approach from JFW. There have been no H&S incidents to date on this project and works have been delivered efficiently and professionally at an excellent standard throughout. Communication is essential on every project and this has been

the key to the success of this project and others undertaken by JFW on behalf of United Utilities for projects I am involved with mainly Project ranger, ANFL and works for AMS West Hub “

Keith Little, Senior Building Surveyor, United Utilities

“The works were organised and programmed extremely well and the standard of workmanship was of a high quality.  The communication between the council and the contractors was excellent.  JFW carried out and completed the works on time as agreed”

Tim Macparlin, Project Officer – Wirral Borough Council

“Grosvenor farms limited contracted JFW construction to undertake a complicated civils works package for a state of the art Rotary milking parlour, at Lea Manor Farm, Chester. We were delighted with quality and the tolerances they achieved, which lead onto an effortless installation of the parlour equipment. They maintained good control on health and safety, quality and programme. JFW Construction has a management and site staff of great talent and experience, that are adaptable and dependable, who ensured that the project came in on time and within budget “

David Craven, Grosvenor Farms buildings Manager

The Board of Governors, Weaverham High School

“I am pleased to write to you to thank JFW Construction Ltd for the excellent work carried out in connection with the construction of the new substation at Ellesmere Port Waste Water Treatment Works. The successful completion of the substation element by JFW was a critical element of the overall CHP project. The CHP project is of major importance to United Utilities and I would thank you for successfully completing your scope of works and pulling out all the stops to achieve the high quality end result”

Greg Parkinson, Project Manager, United Utilities

“Architects were appointed, and a fully competitive tender process was undertaken to select a contractor to construct the new facility. The tender process resulted in the fixed price contract of almost £600,000 being awarded to JFW Construction from Wirral.

Careful fully monitored process of building works was required due  the need for partial demolition and disturbance of the ongoing operations of the nursing residential unit and the day centre. The nature of operations and need for minimum disturbance to elderly infirm residents, was highlighted to the contractors, and these issues were duly observed during the full contract period. Staff and Trustees were pleased with the on-site supervision of work and deliveries by the excellent JFW management team.

The new building and the sensory garden were completed on time, within budget and with the minimum of problems encountered by Hoylake Cottages professional team. The new facilities in phase 2 + garden continue to function smoothly, and Hoylake Cottage Trustees were delighted with the overall experience of working with JFW.”

Roger Tucknott F.R.I.C.S., A.C.I.Arb. Trustee

“In the late Autumn of 2010 we went out to tender for the renovation and extension of Mere Brook Cottage. We shortlisted the tenders and met the top two contractors and chose JFW Construction for the project.

We were from the outset impressed with their attention to detail coupled with the fact that it was a long established family company where you dealt directly with the directors. Work commenced in May 2011 and took 10 months to complete.

The job was complex as due to planning restrictions we could not demolish the old cottage and rebuild, but had to retain the existing upper storey section and therefore prop it whilst new supporting steelwork was inserted, and foundations, slab and drainage were built for the extended footprint. It involved renovating the old, bringing a garage into the property, building extensions to four elevations, incorporating new oak timbers. We had regular weekly onsite meetings with JFW and so we were always kept up to date and involved in the plans. JFW construction has high standards and made sure any sub contractors brought into the project reached equally high standards.

This was really important to us as we were at the time graded 5*gold with regards to the facilities in the main house and as this development was to add further luxury bedroom accommodation and meeting facilities it needed to be of an equivalent standard.

Throughout we had a good relationship with JFW construction who always acted in a professional manner. We and our guests are delighted with the finished development and we are regularly asked for contact details of the firm involved due to the high standard of workmanship and finishes”

Lorna Tyson, Owner

“JFW Construction were employed by Neston High School in 2008 to carry out a complete build of a Music and Maths Classroom extension consisting of two new classrooms, and costing in excess of £200,000.

The site was established in April 2008 and was completed on time in September, enabling the school to re-open for the new academic year with the new facilities in place. From the tendering process right through to the completion date. JFW completed an excellent project with good communication through their site team, this was in spite of earlier problems with ground investigations. The school would certainly consider JFW for any future projects and we would recommend them to any prospective new clients without any hesitation”.

Alex Thomas – Strategic Business Manager – Neston High School

“NGF EUROPE Limited selected JFW Construction as our main contractor following a competitive tendering process to build our new High Tensile Fibre Forming building and associated batch building. This was a complex project requiring the removal and reforming of the three main manufacturing floors in an existing building in addition to the construction of a new batch building.

JFW delivered on every level we required; cost adherence, quality and schedule. NGFE set very high safety standards and JFW completed the 9 month project without any accidents. Their safety performance is the best we have ever experienced from a construction contractor and as such we recognised this with an Excellence in Safety Award at our annual Safety Day.

I can wholeheartedly recommend JFW to any prospective client”

Alistair Poole, Managing Director NGF EUROPE Limited

“Quite refreshing to have employed JFW and executed a contract to a high standard with minimum of fuss, very professional approach, delighted as was client. First Class Service from management to site level in all areas”
Steve Morley – Morley Design (Lombard Shipping – External Works)

“I have been very impressed with the builders of the Switchroom extension – JFW Construction from their Construction Director Barry Cottier to the Site manager – Tony Lee and all the various tradesmen. They have done an excellent job of the construction and brought the job in on time managing numerous sub-contractors in the process. At all times their safety and PPE awareness have been excellent. They kept the construction site fenced off where possible and kept the material and workplace neat and tidy.  I highly recommend that (if the job is big enough) the company doing civil construction works has a non-working site manager so the SCA project engineer only requires a single point of contact for all issues. On a job that could have been a potential banana skin they estimated the job competitively and kept their extras down to a minimum of legitimate claims, acted quickly on design changes and tried to keep the job flowing smoothly, I would definitely recommend them and use them again.”
Andrew Smithies- E+I project Engineer - SCA HYGIENE PRODUCTS

“Good levels of compliance with site restructions, high standards of health and safety. Environmental awareness of high standard. Good quality control practices”

A McPherson – Civil Clerk of Work – URENCO

“Many thanks to all at JFW for a job well done”

John Banton – Woodchurch Methodist Church

“Works were completed to a tighter than originally agreed schedule, no defects at job completion or since. I am happy to recommend this contractor for all small/medium scale jobs including in a chemical plant/high safety environment”

Andrew Jones – Cargills

“Because of the distance between the site and my office, good communication records and trust formed the basis of a smooth and quality contract”
Alan Fitzpatric, M.C.I.O.B, Senior Clerk of Works, Wirral Borough Council

“JFW Construction have executed several projects with this practice, most from inception to completion on site. These contracts have been diverse and ranged from industrial, commercial (both business and retail) to residential. Each project was managed very efficiently and completed on-time and they take the unnecessary stress out of the process by being pragmatic, helpful and efficient throughout. The work is never let down by them as they dedicate their full attention and effort on completion to a very high standard and within budget.

I thoroughly enjoy working with the directors, office and site staff and look forward to completing many more projects with them.”
